Taking a Look at the Challenges Obstructing the Path of a Creative Writer

13 Challenges Writers Face & How To Handle Them | She Rose Revolution

Using creative ways to spice up you’re writing and make it more captivating to people can be an exciting journey to pursue – although it comes with its own challenges.

Whether you are working independently on your business projects or if you are writing something personal for yourself, being able to create quality written work is hard to produce. It brings about various obstacles that are hard to cross.

So if you are someone who is new to the world of writing or if you are an experienced writer who is trying to figure out ways to overcome creative writing challenges, then you are in luck. Fortunately, we had the chance to approach writing professionals and consult their expertise on how they had dealt with their work when their creative drive was not working at its best potential.

One of the professionals we reached out to was Lorenzo DeStefano – a renowned playwright, screenwriter, novelist, producer, director, and more – who has spent many years in the industry and knows a lot when it comes to mastering your hand at creatively written pieces.

At the beginning of his career, he moved to Los Angeles and worked at the post-production facilities of National Geographic Films in Hollywood. The opportunities presented there allowed him to hone his skills and led him to work in the U.S. and U.K. Theater. There he wrote many fiction and non-fiction, original screenplays, etc., and even started focusing on doing several directed network series, documentaries, and narrative films.

Many of you might even know him for some of his famous works like “Dreamscape,” “The Blue Lagoon,” “The Killing Time,” “Winners Take All,” “Shipment Day,” “Talmage Farlow,” “Hearing is Believing,” and many more.

Moreover, DeStefano was also the one who founded The Ventura Film Society, – a cinema activist organization that served the purpose of bringing talented filmmakers together from all over the globe. His television, film, and theatre works have also been widely reviewed on various platforms such as the N.Y. Times, the L.A. Times, Variety, Sight & Sound, Harvard Gazette, etc.

As a professional in the industry, he has shared some of the struggles he and many other creative artists have experienced and how you can find the best ways to overcome them.

Writer’s Block

Writer’s block takes the win for being the most common and dreadful thing that many writers fear. Having this kind of problem can easily make it a massive challenge for you to deal with, especially when it lasts for days, weeks, or even months – and not being able to write what you want can be highly stressful for many people.

The ideal solution here is to stop focusing all your time and attention on this specific problem. Try distracting your mind by thinking about other things – start new activities, pick a book to read, go on a hike, try out fresh food, etc. The idea here is that if you stress less about your writer’s block, it will be easier to get over it.

Consistent Isolation

Being a writer can be a remote job, and if that’s how you prefer to have it, you will often find yourself alone in your company. This can cause a long time of isolation, and having too much time alone can harm your work.

Hence, we believe the best way to overcome this is to find a healthy balance between your writing hours and time to meet family and friends. Start socializing from time to time, and when you return to work, you will start feeling more energized with fresh new ideas just waiting to be written down on a blank paper.
